Could you introduce your company simply at first?
首先您能简要介绍一下您公司的情况吗?
Australia Invest is private Australian company. We are basically a foreign investment portal that promotes foreign investment from overseas investors, in particular Chinese investors and other Asian investors, into Australia. We have a number of exciting and attractive Australian investment opportunities in Australia, as many people would know. We currently have about 18 Australian clients who are looking to actively raise capital, or to find foreign investment from overseas investors with China being a particular focus. In total, those Australian companies are looking for around 500 million Australia dollars to grow and expand and to peruse their projects. But as many people would know, Australia has many natural resources and it is rich with intellectual property, and mining and resources assets, but at times Australia finds it difficult to find the finance to pursue its project and plans.

Is there any successful case of your company on cooperation between your companies and Chinese company?
关于中澳两国公司投资合作，贵公司有什么成功的案例吗？
We are developing our relationships with Chinese investors and we have been doing that over last six months or so. We have had two examples of foreign investors who have used the AustraliaInvest portal to do investments into Australia but currently those two investors have not been Chinese but we are really looking to broaden our reach into the Chinese market. I think for an Australian or for many non Chinese people, the Chinese market is very big market and it is a difficult one to break into and to become known and aware, so we are starting that process now and looking to develop ties and relationships with not only private organizations or private firms but also state owned enterprises and hopefully some government bodies to really help facilitate investment flows from China into Australia which consistent with China’s Going Abroad or Going Global policy.
我们正发展与中国投资者的之间的关系，我们为此已经做了大约半年的工作。我们目前有两位海外投资者是经由澳大利亚投资在线投资澳大利亚的。虽然这两位投资者并不是来自中国，但我们真的很想将我们的业务拓展至中国市场。我认为无论是对澳大利亚人还是许多中国以外的外国人来讲，中国市场真的是一个非常巨大的市场，但想直接进入并一鸣惊人是困难的，因此我们不但正启动并寻求与个人组织或个人企业建立关系，还在寻求与国有企业，可以的话甚至是向一些政府机构寻求帮助来使中国投资进入澳大利亚，我想这与中国对外开发和走向世界的政策是一致的。
What’s your opinion on Chinese investors to invest into Australia?
您对中国投资者投资澳大利亚有何看法？
I believe Australia is a very attractive investment destination. We were the only developed nation not to fall into recession post the GFC and we are also a top five minerals producer across most of the key commodities. So Australia really is resources rich but at times capital poor so there is a shortage of investment to help Australians proceed with those projects. There have been some road bumps or speed humps along the way recently with the government looking to introduce a mining resources tax. But I think that has been watered down, that tax, so it is now a much more favorable tax to Australian companies. The high Australian dollar has also made it a little bit challenging for some investors to afford the cost of the investment. Obviously as the Australian dollar increases relative to the RMB, the investment becomes a little bit more expensive, but the flip side is if you believe that the Australia dollar will continue to rise against US dollar then if you are invested into an Australian dollar denominated asset then as the Australian dollar continues to appreciate, which I think many are speculating will occur, then your investment in Australian dollar terms becomes more and more valuable. So there is positive to the side of the Australian dollar becoming stronger if you are assuming that it keeps on getting stronger.

Given that the domestic demand has been the priority of Chinese economic investment, how do foreign companies explore the market in China
考虑到内需已成为中国经济发展的优先点，那么外资企业将会如何开拓中国市场？
I think it is quite difficult for an Australian company to work out where to start with China. It is a big country, there are lots of different provinces, so it is very challenging. I think there needs to be a greater focus on streamlining that process both by government bodies in China and also Australia and also by businesses such as the one I am currently in charge of called AustraliaInvest, which is really about streamlining investment flows mainly from China into Australia, but once a Chinese company invests into an Australian business there is more propensity for there to be a converse inflow from Australia back into China because the relationships between the Chinese investor and the Australian company will be enhanced following the investment so there is a two way potential flow following the investment into Australia, but I think there really needs to be focus on that particular area to facilitate flows into Australia of capital and also from Australia back into China of capital to help your small and medium sized enterprises grow and expand and become more international.
我认为选择中国何处开始这一问题对一家澳大利亚公司来讲太困难了。中国是个大国，有很多不同的省份，因此这极具挑战。我认为中澳两国政府及企业应更多关注简化手续问题，像我目前负责澳大利亚投资在线，这个公司就是主要简化来自中国的投资。因此在澳大利亚的投资有两种潜在的流向。但我认为真正需要关注的的是使资金流入澳大利亚或者资金从澳大利亚回流至中国更便捷，这样才能有助于中小企业的发展，并使得它们更国际化。然而一旦中国公司投资了澳大利亚，有一种倾向是在澳大利亚的投资可能会回流到中国，因为中国投资者和澳大利亚的关系会增强随后的投资的关系，因此随着投资进入澳大利亚有两种方向的潜在资金流，但我认为真正需要关注的是简化资金流入澳大利亚和资金回至中国的繁琐手续，以此来帮助中小企业的成长以及国际化进程。
And now China has gone to pay much more attention on sustainable development and economic restructuring which will supply what kind of opportunities to foreign investment companies and how these companies can grab this chance? 现在中国更为关注持续发展和经济结构的转变，那么这将带给外国投资公司怎样的机会，而这些外资公司又将如何把握机会？
I think there is obviously opportunities for both Chinese companies and Australian companies with China focusing on sustainable development. There is a focus, as we have seen at this conference today , for Chinese companies to Go Abroad and to invest into good projects and good businesses not only in the Australia but across the global. So I think that support from the Chinese government for not only state owned enterprises but also private companies in China to invest overseas will actually help with your sustainable development, in my view, quite strongly. So I think there are a lot of opportunities for Australian companies to benefit from China’s capital base and the success of Chinese companies and also Australian companies can benefit from your Chinese companies’ connections and contacts and distribution within China which I think can be quite scary for a number of Australian companies who do not fully appreciate how to deal with the Chinese market. So I think investment into Australia will help not only the Australian companies grow and expand but will also help Chinese businesses become more global and obviously if they are investing into a successful project, they will also make a hopefully good financial return from that investment and also secure supply of the commodity that they are seeking, whether it is energy or iron ore, or whether it is a soft commodity such as wheat or beef, there are various opportunities there I think.
中国关注可持续发展，我认为这对中澳公司都是一个显而易见的机会。就像我们今天与会所见到的，中国公司走向海外投资不单单是投资澳大利亚而是横跨全球。因此我认为中国政府不应只支持国有企业在海外做投资，中国私营企业在海外投资同样有助于可持续发展。因此，我认为对于澳大利亚公司而言将会有很多机会从中国资本和中国公司的成功中受益。并且，澳大利亚公司还将从中国公司间的联系与在分布中受益，我认为这些东西对与相当一部分不了解中国市场的澳大利亚企业来说是非常棘手的。因此我认为投资澳大利亚不但有助于澳大利亚公司的发展，而且还可以帮助中国推进国际化业务，显然，如果他们投资了一个成功的项目，他们将会从投资中如期得到不错的受益，并且也能牢牢掌握所需求商品的供应，无论是能源还是铁矿石，亦或者一些软商品，像小麦、牛肉等各种不同的机会。
What is your opinion on the prospect of cooperation on investment between the two countries?
您对两国在投资领域合作的前景有何看法？
It is the tip of the iceberg in terms of the opportunities that we are currently seeing I think. As we become more efficient in working out ways of working together and obviously the language barrier can be slight barrier but I think that is only temporary and with other people and advisers helping and translators helping I think there is a really strong opportunity between our respective governments to enhance the flow of investment into Australia and also to enhance the flow of investment from Australia back into China. So I think we will see many many changes over the next 3 to 5 years in that regard so it will become much easier for Australia companies when they seeking to raise capital to grow and expand. Currently they don’t really know where to look in China because it is such big market but I think as the government and private sector companies such as mine focus on streamlining the investment process I think it will become a much easier task for Australian companies to find a partner in China and vice versa.
就我们目前所见的而言我认为只是机会中的冰山一角。随着我们共事变的更有效率，并且显然语言障碍只是个小障碍，但我认为这都是暂时的问题，并且随着其他人、顾问的帮助、翻译的帮助等。我想在促进投资流入澳大利亚和加强投资从澳大利亚回至中国方面，两国政府间存有很大的合作机会。因此我认在随后的三至五年中，我们将会看到越来越多的改变，以后澳大利亚公司为发展筹集资金将会变的更容易。目前，他们实在不知道该把注意力放在哪里，因为中国的市场实在太大了，但我认为随着政府及私企领域，例如我们正专注于简化投资流程，我认为澳大利亚找到中国合作伙伴将会变的更简单，反之亦然。
